Outliner Clean Up

You are here:
< Back

Cleaning up your outliner has become a significant part of 3D optimization. In complex CAD design files, outliners contain extensive nodes, connections, and parent-child relationships. When importing CAD design files into real-time applications, outliners can be accidentally expanded and disorganized. In addition, not cleaning up your scene or deleting your history in your original 3D software can create excess and empty nodes in your outliner.

Processing extensive outliners are expensive for the processor and re-organizing them manually is time-consuming and expensive. Cleaning up extra parents, extra nodes and empty nodes can be accomplished with a handful of Meshmatic’s tools.

Outliner clean-up tools

  • The roll-up tool, the roll-up tool analyzes your outliner to find extra parents and extra nodes and deletes them
  • Delete empty nodes tool, the software finds empty nodes and deletes them

To delete extra parents/extra nodes

  1. Select the root node in the outliner that needs optimization
  2. Use the roll-up tool from the top toolbar
  3. The software will find extra parents and extra nodes in the user-selected rood node and will reduce/delete them
